From dogs to music, both lift my spirits!
I met Denis and Carol, through my dog groomer, and when I heard that they were going to start a community choir, sure I just had to give it a go. The distance felt a little daunting for the dark nights as about 35mins drive over the hills and far away, so I asked a couple of women in my locality and 1 said she would join me on this venture. We have got to know each other from the shared spins and chats en route and on the way home. There were miserably dark and wet evenings that we drove over both just not feeling it! However when we were 1 song in, or even in the voice warm ups, we would glance over and smile. I knew the night was only going to get better, and it always did. Singing, and learning how to follow the direction of dots on the page 🎶, the meaning of why some dots are dark and some hollow. I struggle with reading at the best of times, but somehow am learning with the enjoyment of music to read most of the writing, and the music. I make mistakes, and I learn. Denis is just great for guiding and teaching, and encouraging us to try high, middle, or low parts depending on what you feel like at the time. Truly delighted I joined Canto, and look forward to September 2nd 2025 for our restart after the summer break. 💕🪷🎶 Ruth
